Heather raises £500 for Wotton Community PARC

Heather Cole ran three half marathons in the space of 4 weeks and has raised £500 for the Wotton Community PARC. When asked about this fab achievement Heather told us why she had done it and what the PARC means to her

“I am definitely an accidental runner – this hobby was supposed to be something I could do in half an hour to help my fitness (and so I can keep up with my sons!).
I decided to raise money for our local Community PARC as it is run by a charity, not the council. Each week the PARC hosts a parkrun, which is a free run, organised by volunteers. As I regularly run round the field (and take a lot of mud home with me in winter) I would like to give something back to the charity that makes this possible.
The PARC has many other facilities, including a skate park, which my sons like to visit, as well as a BMX track, many sports pitches, and quiet areas planted with trees.  The Wotton Community Sports Foundation (WCSF) the charity that runs the PARC are currently in the process of creating a sensory garden which is brilliant. This is a great local facility and only functions with community support”

The half marathons were Bristol on 23rd Sept, Cheltenham on 30th Sept and Stroud on 21st October. Heather commented “Looking back, it was a bit crazy to attempt this, but I am pleased I did”. – we are pleased you did it too Heather and thank you so much for thinking of us as the beneficiaries of your sponsorship.

If you would like to donate to Heather’s cause you still can – until 21st April  https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/heathercole1

Party in the Parc – 15th June 2019

**LATEST** PARTY IN THE PARC is on – Gates Open 12 Noon

The site is set-up and ready to go despite all the challenging conditions. We have a full line-up of bands and musicians to entertain you all day long and they’re all in INDOOR stages. We’ll have a fully stocked bar with Wickwar Wessex Brewing Co beer plus cider, Prosecco, Pimms, wine and more. Food from The Edge Coffee Shop, Relish Wotton-under-Edge and Wotton-under-Edge and District Round Table hog roast and BBQ. Plus, bouncy castle, speed-ball competition and craft fun from Junkfish.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us out and kept the faith through thick and thin. All we need now is the great people of Wotton and the surrounding area to come along and enjoy the party!

Tickets are available on the door. All parking is now in the KLB car park. Just remember to bring your wellies and your mates!

——————————————————————————————————————————————–

Party in the PARC 2019 promises to be yet another fantastic day out for all the family with live bands, beer from Wickwar Brewery, kid’s activities and a huge selection of food. All this entertainment for you to enjoy on the day, plus you will have the wonderful feeling of knowing that your ticket is contributing to developing the facilities at the PARC for the local community too!

Beginning at 12 noon we will have music, family activities, food, drink and special guest exhibitors for you to enjoy throughout the day and into the evening. Last year over 1,000 people enjoyed an afternoon in the sunshine followed by an evening of drinking and dancing until sundown (and beyond!). We really hope that you are planning to join us again in 2019.

This year we have a wide range of bands from far and wide across two stages, including Huw Eddy & The Carnival, Route 61 and Below Average.

For families, we are planning for the return of the ever-popular Junkfish, Solo Circus, face painting, rides and much more.

For those who like a more sedate afternoon eating and drinking in the sunshine, Wickwar Brewery have returned as our main sponsor and the beer tent will be serving several of their best ales. There will also be Prosecco and Pimms available as well as a huge selection of food.

Brief report from Party in the PARC 2019 –

Thank you for coming to Party in the PARC 2019

Our amazing volunteers worked hard all week to allow Party in the PARC to go ahead. We had a great response from everyone who attended and enjoyed a fabulous day of great beer, brilliant music and fun for all the family (plus a little mud). We were also rewarded with a fantastic sunset.
