About WCSF
WCSF
will provide high quality sports facilities to create opportunities and
pathways, from recreation to performance, for people of all ambitions,
abilities and ages within the Wotton Under Edge community. It
is
committed to attract and manage sustainable resources to enhance and
maximise recreational and sporting opportunities for the whole
community, through collaboration with all stakeholders.
Aims
Increase participation in and promote opportunities for, sport and
physical activity; being open and accessible to all.
Act as a training and development centre for excellence and expertise in sport and physical activity.
To strengthen existing clubs and activities.
To promote and enable the development of new clubs and activities.
Promote healthy living and well-being.
To minimise the environmental impact of its activity .
To achieve economic viability.
Targets
To increase children, young people and adult (16+) participation in
sport and physical activity by 5% annually (based on having 600 adults
and children currently playing football, hockey and rugby).
Increase facilities for tennis, hockey, cricket, football and rugby,
BMX Skateboarding by year 5.
Deliver at least two new clubs or activities year on year over the
first 5 years to benefit different ages and abilities.
Increase the number of volunteers by 25% over 5 years.
Initiate at least 4 coaching courses each year in conjunction
with local governing bodies, at New Road.
Ensure 75% of volunteers have taken level 1 qualification within first
year.
Achieve break even of this phase by year three.
Communicate at least once a month through public media and once a year
to stakeholders in addition to
Annual Report.
Each club (where appropriate) has at least one level 2/3 coach.
Promote and support at least one tournament in each major sport each
year.
Maintain all facilities to a high standard - 98% availability of
artificial surfaces and 95% availability of natural surface for use
excluding force majeure.
Outcomes
Increased number of people wanting to take part in sport. Improved community spirit, aspiration and enthusiasm for sport. Increased opportunities for appropriate training, competitions and
tournaments, following NGB player and participation pathways. Provide a community asset for use by other groups such as PCT,
Community Partnerships etc. Increase the provision of facilities and opportunities in line with
anticipated housing growth.
